Trigoni or Dasyatis violacea , can reach a width of 80 cm and a maximum length of 190 cm. They have a very dark brown-violet coloration, almost black. Like the sharks, their relatives, the stingrays have a cartilaginous skeleton, they also live in the Adriatic Sea where they feed on jellyfish, squid, crustaceans and fish. The stingrays have a poisonous sting at the base of the tail which is used in case of defense. Some stingrays housed in the tank were born in the Cattolica Aquarium. Thanks to their docile nature, they can be gently caressed on the side fins, paying attention to the mouth and tail.
