BOA THE GREAT PREDATOR

Boa

A constricting snake

Despite the dimensions decidedly inferior to those of the anaconda or certain species of python , the constricting boa is considered the boide par excellence. It feeds mainly on small mammals, birds and their offspring, but also on saurians such as the tegu or the iguanas. It is part of the family of constricting snakes and to kill its prey it uses the technique from which it takes its name. Like other snakes, the constricting buoy is also able to swallow prey much larger than its head. It is viviparous, after a gestation of 100 - 150 days, it gives birth to 5 to 60 puppies having a body length of about 45 cm.
